Trikone Atlanta organizes or participates in several social events around the year. Some of our signature events include:

- Monthly Potlucks

- Chai House Discussions

- Atlanta Pride

- Annual Fundraiser

Monthly Potluck

Join us for our monthly socials on the second Saturday of every month at a safe confidential environment. Next Socials: Sept 12, Oct 10, Nov 14, Dec 12. If you plan to attend a social, please note the following necessary but gentle reminder: Let the host know you're there and introduce any friends you may have brought to the social. Please be responsible for your guests and make them aware of our group and its goals. Also, as a courtesy, please do not take pictures of folks without their permission. It may be unnerving trying to come and be out, and we'd like to have as little pressure as possible on some of our newer members. Finally, please refrain from having hard liquor. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Chai House Discussions

The idea for the Chai House came about when four South Asians - Deepali Gokhale, Sangita Chari, Sunita Patel and Aditya Kar -- met to explore the myth of the Model Minority in early 2001. The group started exploring the idea and met a few more times and eventually decided to host a discussion group involving the community.

The first Raksha-Trikone Chai House was held in April 2001 and was met with overwhelming support from the South Asian community. The audience at the inaugural discussion suggested that it be continued and the Chai House series was born.

More Chai Houses were held between 2001-2003 and the subjects discussed ranged from inter-racial and inter-religious relationships to issues of sexual orientation and exploring the divide between the African-American community and the South Asian community. (Source: Raksha)

While new discussions have not been organized since then, we plan to soon reactivate our monthly gab-n-java sessions!

Atlanta Pride

Trikone has been actively participating in Atlanta's premier queer event for a decade now. Currently, we are gearing for the Pride Festival 2009 from 31 Oct-1 Nov at Piedmont Park.!

Annual Fundraiser

Every year Trikone has one social dedicated to generating some funds for supporting essential Trikone activities. Prep your costumes, because the Annual Fundraiser is just around the corner!

NQAPIA Conference

"LGBT APIs live at the intersection of being sexual, racial/ethnic, linguistic, gender, immigrant, and economic minorities. Two-thirds of all Asian Americans are foreign-born and 80% speak a language other than English in their homes. A third are not citizens. Approximately one million Asian Americans are undocumented. After 9/11, immigrants, particularly South Asian immigrants, have been targets of racial profiling, detentions, and deportations. Yet immigration reform is not seen as a "gay" issue." Trikone Atlanta is proud to be part of NQAPIA Conference 2009 and will be represented by its Outreach Committee members.
